Foundation Relations

Mission

The Office of Foundation Relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is dedicated to securing support from private foundations for the institution’s academic and public engagement programs. The office works to secure foundation funding for campus priorities, promote foundation funding opportunities among faculty and units, build campus capacity in foundation fundraising, and advance partnerships with foundation funders through communication, stewardship and other activities.

  
Activities and Services

• Conducts sponsor research and identification
• Provides foundation contacts where appropriate
• Conducts foundation calls on behalf of campus
• Hosts campus visits of foundation representatives
• Assists with proposal preparation and submission
• Monitors major foundation activities for changes in giving priorities, staffing, board and leadership
• Offers seminars on foundation philanthropy and foundation relations training

• Mellon Foundation announces two $50,000 awards under its Mellon Awards for Technology Collaboration Program
• Grand Victoria Foundation supports Illinois Promise with $200,000 grant
• Lumina Foundation for Education helps launch TEAM program to facilitate community college transfer

• Three University of Illinois faculty receive Alfred B. Sloan Fellowships
• Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant helps catalogue the UI Rare Book and Manuscript collection
