JULIE FILIP JACKSON

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF FOUNDATION RELATIONS

Julie Jackson was named Associate Director for Foundation Relations in January 2006. In this role, she assists the foundation relations office in seeking to advance campus programs by securing support from private foundations. Ms. Jackson’s responsibilities include research, proposal development, and special projects. Prior to the office’s reorganization in 2006, she served as Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, engaging in similar activities on the corporate side as well.

Ms. Jackson has been a member of the Urbana-Champaign campus for fourteen years and joined Campus Development as Assistant Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations in 1999. Previously, she worked as Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. In that position, she served as the Vice Chancellor’s budget officer and was responsible for special projects and initiatives.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Jackson worked in the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, administering the Serve Illinois grant program (the predecessor of AmeriCorps) – federal funding received by the state of Illinois to expand and enhance youth community service programs. She began in government as a Lieutenant Governor's Fellow and also interned for the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, working in urban economic development.

Ms. Jackson graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Chicago, with an A.B. in history.
