JANELLE WEATHERFORD

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
FOUNDATION RELATIONS

Janelle Weatherford came to Urbana-Champaign in 1992 from Fresno,
California. She earned a B.A. in Russian from California State
University Fresno in 1987, an M.A. in Russian from the University of
Arizona in 1990, and completed coursework towards a Ph.D. in Slavic
Languages and Literatures at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign in 1995.

She began her career as an Adjunct Lecturer of Russian at California
State University, Fresno. She also taught Russian at Illinois as a
Teaching Assistant from 1992 through 1995. For almost ten years, Ms.
Weatherford worked in the field of computer-assisted training and
education as an instructional designer and project manager. Her career
at Illinois began in 2002 as a Lead Instructional Designer on the
UI-Integrate project. Starting in 2003, she served as Associate Director
of the European Union Center for four years. She was named Associate
Director of Foundation Relations in September of 2007. In this role she
is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and providing stewardship
for a portfolio of foundation donors and prospects. She works with
units, faculty, and senior administrators to identify priority projects
and match with foundation interests and provides proposal-writing
assistance.

Ms. Weatherford lives in Monticello, Illinois with her husband and two
sons.
